Dating In Memphis: Top 5 Places To Meet New People

The hunt for a husband have been high since the royal wedding took place. I have an email full of women asking me where can they find love, like I’m a match maker. But I will share some of my knowledge, however it time to get real. Let be honest how many women can say that their best friend would hook them up with a prince? Better yet, how many women can say that their best friend would hook them up with a good man before they try to holler at him first? Not many I bet. Not saying you don’t have good friends, but number one rule of dating is always to look after yourself first. So, ten out of ten they will try to date the guy first before even telling you about him. Therefore, we see how slick a woman is after you announce your relationship to the world. His followers go from 890 to 1,200 all in a blink of an eye and half of them are your so called Facebook friends that added him behind your back. And once they find out he isn’t a good man THAT when they decide to hook you up with this so called “amazing” man. The point is he will be used by time he gets to you. So, this is where I step in to help you find your mate. Like I said the hunt for a husband is high which mean you need to know the best places to find a guy and I’m here to list the top 5 best places to meet a guy. This list for the fellas as well, who is also looking for a woman. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for a relationship or a summer fling either way you will leave happy. So, here are my top 5 places to meet new people.

Old Dominick Distillery
This place just caught my attention after seeing this is the spot to be this summer. If you love a good night out of drinking and looking for a mate that loves to drink then this is your place. Thu. through Sat. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. they offers drinkers tours in which you get to test taste their fine liquor collections. Tours are $12 per person and start every half hour. Now, the real party begin on the rooftop or in the top-floor bar. However, the rooftop is only open when there is a private event. But from the look of it that will change very soon.

Loflin Yard

The first time I visit this place was back in December and been in love with this place ever since. I have a feeling that Old Dominick Distillery, Loflin Yard, and Railgaten will be neck and neck with events this summer. However, Loflin yard is offering weekly events all summers long and you have a choice to either party indoors and outdoors as well. This place also offers open bar all night, and great foods as well. This will be one of the best places to meet new people and for a simple night of fun with your friends.

Summer Drive-in
Memphis is the only county that still have a drive- in so this place is very special. If you're trying to change it up, then this is the change up you need for a first date. Since we love doing the same thing repeatedly at least change up how you do it. And the best thing about the drive-in you can cuddle under your date with no distractions. And they’re offering a summer line up, with a different movie theme every first Saturday of the month. And you can possibly go there, and meet someone at the snack stand you never know.

Railgaten
Just like Loflin yard and old Dominick, Railgaten will be the place to be as well this summer. This place consists of  an ice cream parlor, diner, ping pong emporium and a hideaway cocktail bar. And just like Peabody, Railgaten is having weekly weekend kick off this summer as well. This is great place for the first date or a friendly meet up either I guaranteed you will leave with a phone number and or a date.

Rooftop at the Peabody
Now, for years Peabody Rooftop is known as the hook-up spot of the summer (I gotten emails to prove it). The Parties take place every Thursday night, from 6pm – 10pm. Weekly admission is $10 – $15 and ladies you get in free before 7pm. Each week features a snack buffet and drink specials with an theme of that week. Since Memphis loves a good party than you know this is one of hottest party in the city. The rooftop party is a perfect girls night out, and it great for just a simple night out to kick off the weekend.

I love this idea. Whew, child, it's been a good minute since I've gone on a nice date sadly living abroad in Oman. The drive-in, now that brings back memories.

I wish some of these places were in New York. We could use a drive-in theater. I would definitely do a date night at any of these places.

I've never been to Memphis before but all of these looks amazing. I don't know why but I never really associated rooftop bars with Memphis before because I'm so used to them in NYC.

I was all caught up in the royal affairs. Luckily for me I already have my Prince so I'm good. I've been to Memphis a couple of times and I had a good time every time. I love a good rooftop anywhere I go. They set the mood for you.

Hey fellow Memphian! Railgarden and Loflin Yard are my favorite out of your line up. You can not go wrong with a rooftop party at the Peabody. I had no idea of the tours offered at the distillery. I will DEFINITELY have to check that out this summer.

When Hurt People Hurt: Nas and Kelis

You can’t fix what you didn’t break. Sometimes the demons we face, are not the person we’ve dated fault. We’ll never know the demons anyone truly face, until they decide if they want to take it out on us. We try to be there and show them something different but soon realize their demons are slowly killing us. As I come to learn a man is his mother image. A man is what his mother make him to be, he may carry out some of his father actions; but his character come from his mother. Like a woman is what her father tell her to be. Whether he speak it with his words or speak it with his actions (by not being in her life), a woman carry her father words with her everywhere she goes and in all of her relationships. That why sometimes when a man is reckless, if his mother understand his actions then no one else opinion of him even matter. Vice versa with a woman. We chose to play doctor but doesn’t stay around to fully cure that person injuries. We just add more cuts, to an already wounded soul…

My Thoughts on Love Is...

As I always say, when the love is real it not meant for anyone on the outside to understand. I always ask women “what would they do for love?” Some women answer, while some just look at me like I’m crazy. Everyone loves to claim they have a limitation on love. However, as one told me you only have limitation when you haven’t met your match. Now, before I could write this story I had to re-watch this series twice just to make sure I was understanding what I was watching. Therefore, after watching this show I got something to say and it won’t be pretty. My new addiction celebrating black love is Love Is”, which tells the origin story of a modern-day love, before social media came and destroyed well trying to destroy love for everyone. This show has become the topic of discussion more than this season of “Insecure” (I’m still waiting for that wow moment of this season). Love Is_ is set in '90s. And tells the story of two Black creatives who fall for each other quickly. Nuri works as…

What to Do When A Person Ghost You

We all knew this day was coming and now it time I write about it. This Sunday night, was the season finale of “insecure." Now, before I get to the point of the story I must share my thoughts of this whole season. I was looking for that spark this season like season one, and two, but I didn’t receive one until the end. Even the whole Daniel and Issa storyline that was a letdown. When I saw she brought back Lawrence I was hoping that finally they would work it out, but again Lawrence on that bitch ass shit. However, the relationship between Nathan and Issa was the talk on black twitter. While Issa thoughts she finally met a good guy who challenge her, Nathan proved that “the lighter the eyes, the bigger the lies.” While we have to wait until Next Year to see exactly where this relationship will go, Nathan pulled a move that was close to home for many people. It hurt like hell when a person leave you without any warning or reasons. It leave you asking yourself, “What did you do?” We…
