Story Of The Month: Dani Ray

Kicking off in August I want to give writers a platform to show their gift, and who better to show it off than Ms. Dani Ray. Born in Mississippi, she discovered her love of words and writing when she was in elementary. She graduated from the University of Memphis and published a book of poetry "Covered in Words" in 2016. And now she is blessing me with a piece from her book.

He calls me queen I call him my king His words send bolts like lightning  Coursing through my body  Stopping only on my lips so I can savor them I bask in his glory waiting for them to escape  Like the sweetest tasting sugar I lick the words right out of him His words become mine Traveling to all my nerve ending Implant themselves in my soul Greedily I continue milking him Until his words belong to only me  When I'm satisfied I have enough I return to pleasing him He likes when I own him My tongue tracing highways to his secret self One he saved just for me He begs to touch her insides They call out for him When he can n…

Gentleman Of The Month: Queat Harris

Back in July I want to see another production of my girl play "not your mother diary", and it was better than the first. However, one guy stood out to me and his name was Queat Harris. Queat is a spoken word/recording artist, host & comic from Tunica, MS. His desire to become an entertainer began with the formation of Know Good and the release of his first musical project, As The Doobie Burns, in 2011. It was followed by Re-Lit in 2013. Life happened and a hiatus was taken before he resurfaced in 2016 as a poet. The ball was rolling again and dozens of performances later, which included DreamFest, Local Legends and being a featured comic at The Hard Rock Cafe in Downtown Memphis, he's getting set to release his third studio album, Social Commentary. When the lights go out he's a massage therapist and father of three.

In relationships, what are you afraid of the most? 1. Becoming bland and predictable. The need to "keep it fresh" is a critical f…

Why We Should Stop Blaming Tasha For The Demise Of Lawrence & Issa Relationship

This journey that I’m currently on is a long one but I whether be on a long journey than be in another relationship where I’m left looking for answers. I have to keep reminding myself that I deserve the best even when I feel like I don’t. I know now that I deserve a man that will love me with all his heart, and will give me all of him. As I gotten older I realize that I shouldn’t rush love or commitment because it takes time. Now, I'm at a point where I know that I want to be with someone who is committed to building a lasting friendship first then build a lasting relationship afterward. Cause if he can commit to building a friendship that will last, then he can commit to being in a serious relationship. Like someone once told me a relationship is like clay if you take your time than you can mold it into something beautiful. However, this story isn’t about rushing into a relationship or anything in that manner I’m writing about fuck boys & Tasha from 'Insecure'. Had to…

My Cup Of Tea: The True Reason Why We Have Trust Issues In Relationships

I can write a million stories but I will always come back to write stories about two important topics: Trust and Loyalty. Well, today’s story is about trust which, seems to be a topic that I have been speaking on a lot lately. In the past I had trust issues hell, I still do trying to trust another, after someone broke your trust is hard. Hell, if trust issues aren’t the number one cause of breakups, it has to be one of the leading causes. In my brief time of being alive and dating, I’ve noticed that the problems most couples face are usually arguments that can be traced to insecurities masked behind trust issues. Sometimes as women we can overreact before we get the facts. We listen to the outside opinions before we listen to self, A lot of times, prematurely entering relationships leads us to bring unresolved problems from previous relationships thinking that being with another will heal those old wounds but not realizing that we are adding more cuts to that open wound. This gives o…

Journey Of Self: Tips On Traveling Alone

As I tell many women who are on the journey of self, you have to take risks in order to find the woman that hiding within you. Playing it safe will only lead you down a road of resentment and hate toward your spouse who did nothing wrong but love you. Going after your true identity is a long journey, but a journey that need to happen so you will have inner peace. It many ways and step to start your journey of self but the best way to start that journey is to travel the unknown alone. When I started traveling alone it was a sense of freedom to me, I love the fact that whenever I want to get up and go I can. Not having to wait for someone to say they can go, or not was peace for me. If I want to go I can just go even with the fear in the back of my mind telling me to stay home. I still go cause it like one man once wrote, even if you scared to do it still do it. Cause that fear will always be there but that opportunity won’t be there. Women asked me all the time about traveling alone, a…
